The NHL’s Most Valuable Teams
The NHL’s league income hit 25 million dollars in the 2017-2018 season. This showed a 39% increase in revenue, which is a considerable increase and one of the best the league has witnessed in years. Apart from ticketing and merchandise sales, the league’s most valuable source of income is TV ratings.
As of now, the NBC deal with US television is at 187 million dollars per year. The deal was a 2 billion closed deal with 200 million being paid upfront. The rest was then divided over ten years. The comprehensive income per year may be about 400 million dollars.
The Leagues Operating Income
Between 2013 and 2016, the league’s operating income had stagnated at 15 million dollars. However, since then, the association has recorded an upward graph. This has caused the NFL teams’ value to record at least a 6% increase.
Vegas Gold Knights might be the secret behind the rise in value for the league since its entrance to the league in 2018 was a significant expansion. The knights are currently worth 575 million dollars, which is already 15% more than their expansion amount.
Team Valuations
As of the 2017-2018 hockey NFL season, the highest valued team was the Ney York Rangers at 1550 million dollars. The Maple Leafs from Toronto follows closely at 1450 million as the other original six take their position close by. The highest-paid player in the season was Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers, who earned 19.5 million dollars.
Connor is followed by John Tavares of the Toronto Maple Leafs at 17.3 million dollars. Carey Price, Alexander Ovechkin, and Sidney Crosby added to the top five list, all earning above 13 million dollars per season.
With the value of the league continuing to increase, so will the value of the teams and their players.
